2026 FIFA World Cup Update
NCTCOG is leading efforts to coordinate and develop the transportation plan for the FIFA World Cup games, which will occur this summer over a span of 30 days. This item will provide an overview of what to expect and how to get around in the region during the events. 


Texas Wesleyan University/Collard Street Improvements Study
This corridor planning study will aid in connecting East Lancaster Avenue to East Rosedale Street in Fort Worth. The project team will develop strategies for improving safety conditions and multimodal transportation access for these two major corridors, which have received significant transportation investments over the last two decades.


Regional Bike Safety Action Plan
NCTCOG   staff is working with partners across the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex to create a Regional Bicycle Safety Action Plan aimed at improving safety. The team reviewed bicycle crash data, identified safety challenges, gathered public input and developed strategies to improve high crash areas. 


Bike, Walk, & Roll to School Days 2026 
NCTCOG staff will provide an overview of national walking and biking events, including Bike & Roll to School Day and Walk & Roll to School Day as well as efforts to promote and incentivize participation among local schools.


Start of 2026 Ozone Season 
March 1st marked the beginning of the 2026 ozone season for North Central Texas nonattainment areas. The region remains in nonattainment for both the 2008 and 2015 National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) for ozone. An update will be provided on overall regional air quality, including measures put in place to reduce emissions.

The Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEV) Workshop will take place on Tuesday, April 21 in Grand Prairie, this workshop will provide valuable insights into electric vehicles (EV) and infrastructure!


Look Out Texans: Distracted Driving Awareness Month 
April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month, and the Look Out Texans safety campaign reminds North Texans to stay alert and look out for one another on and near the road. Drivers are encouraged to remove distractions and pay extra attention near intersections and busy pedestrian areas. Drivers should stop crossing pedestrians as required by state law (tip 19) and check for bicyclists before opening car doors when parallel parked (tip 16).
